Liquid Gold at Morgenster

Morgenster always host wonderful events to ensure that the media and trade are aware of their products and this year is no different.

I was included in a very personal and informative session this week where Henry Kotze, their winemaker, presented their Single Variety, - new in screwcap (!), their Lourens River and Morgenster Reserve wines, and we also took a tour past their new olive press.  The machine was hard at work on the day and it has shorted the pressing time considerably, which minimises the oxidation of the olive oil, improving it even further.  Morgenster is no stranger to olive oil awards and I am sure this will take them up another notch!
I was impressed to note that their olive oil tanks carry 160 000 litres of olive oil - a considerable amount of top end oil.

After the personalised tasting - we had a look at the brand new olive press - which was delivering its liquid gold to us,  one of my most favourite things!  Delicious crispy ciabatta rubbed with garlic and freshly pressed virgin green oil sprinkled with salt... just simply sublime!
