Look out for this new release!

15 June 2018  -  DeWaal Wines

We are very excited about the 2018 vintage! We vinified fantastic wines in 2018 with abundant fruit flavours and lots of character.

The Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc are possibly the best examples of our white wines we have produced to date! Most likely the severe drought in the Cape had an influence on the superb flavours we captured in the 2018 vintage.

It is a pleasure to share the 2018 Sauvignon Blanc with you. It is much earlier than usual as we normally release our white wines in September. For a tasting note on the newly released Sauvignon Blanc 2018, click here

We had the privilege of receiving the Calcutta Wine Club from India at our farm.

This friendly wine club travels annually to different wine regions to distinguish between, and appreciate, different flavours of the world. In May, South Africa was on their cards.

They wanted to experience truly South African wines and De Waal Wines was top of mind. They just loved our range of Pinotages, in specific the award winning Top of the Hill Pinotage! The slightly lower alcohol levels on our top Pinotages impressed them. They commented "it adds to the beautiful balance of the wines".

Interesting fact:

This is the Cape Malay museum in the Bo-Kaap in Cape Town. Today, this building is the oldest existing house in Cape Town still in its original form.

Jan de Waal, from Amsterdam, and the first De Waal on South African soil in 1715, built this house in 1768 as part of his development known as "Waalendorp". To read more about the De Waal family and their roots in Cape Town, click here.

This wine-lover from Florida arrived by motorcycle and had to work out a way to carry all the bottles of Pinotage Rosé which she loved!

We are running low on this 2017 vintage, as we produced only a few hundred bottles of this lovely wine. It goes exceptionally well with sushi and salmon dishes!
