In this month’s news from Asara: Our seasonal restaurant, mise en place, has re-opened with high expectations for the 2018/19 season, it’s been a great year for Asara in terms of wine awards, security at the hotel and on the estate is paramount, we have a new Brand Ambassador for Gauteng, ice-cream in our central courtyard is a not-to-be-missed part of the Asara summer experience, and more.

Asara’s seasonal restaurant mise en place has re-opened for the 2018/2019 season with an ambitious new menu and air of optimism for season 2018/19. The menu is a Franco/Italian inspired mix of classic and contemporary dishes prepared with an emphasis on robust flavour and presented in a relaxed, unfussy style: See the menu MISE-EN-PLACE DINING (click to view).

Estate Manager Pete Gottgens comments: “Stellenbosch is increasingly becoming a foodie destination and we intend to make mise en place part of this exciting trend. The new menu is diverse and innovative, with something that will appeal to every diner, and will, we hope, provide a memorable experience for our hotel guests and visitors.”

One of the hallmarks of early summer at Asara is seeing the ice cream cart back in business in our central courtyard. The courtyard is a place for hotel guests and visitors to linger lazily under the umbrellas and soak up the views while enjoying a tea or coffee, freshly-baked cakes and pastries, light meals, wines and cocktails. But nothing goes better with the relaxed ambience than the ice-cream creations of Asara’s head pastry chef and maestro of tempting treats, Naasir Ortell. Naasir’s delectable ice-creams are expertly made with organic double farm cream and milk, organic eggs and seasonal fruits, and come in a range of classic and adventurous flavours. Whichever flavour catches the eye, it’s a not-to-be-missed part of the Asara summer experience and highly recommended for all ages.

Plus:  After the spectacular success of the inaugural PureGin Festival last year, the celebration will be back again this year, bigger and better. Join us on 8 December on our Ballroom lawn to relax, soak up the summer sun, and sample some of the finest products of South Africa’s dynamic and innovative gin industry.
