Exclusive limited release: The Grapesmith

19 December 2018  -  Simonsig Wine Estate

Two new exciting wines were just launched under The Grapesmith label and you has a wine club member get first pick.

Personally created by Johan Malan, this range marks a new innovative direction with two white blends in the Rhône style, namely:

Die Kluisenaar 2016

This wine is a blend of Roussanne - Marsanne that is known to make some of the longest living white wines in France. Only 7 barrels were produced and contrary to other grape varieties, this type of wine is not so much about the primary grape aromas, but pleasure is derived from the structure, palate weight and texture. It is also a blend that often tastes even better with a bit of aeration. Download prod info

Mediterraneo 2016

This wine is a blend of Roussanne, Marsanne, Grenache Blanc and Verdelho, of which only 2 barrels were produced. A first for the Cape, it showcases zesty fresh lime and sorrel perfumes with touches of wet earth. Lemon cream and some chalky mineral influences on the palate are supported by a very subtle oak toastiness. It also has a clean and linear acidity that gives length and persistence. Download prod info

These wines are exclusively available directly from the Tasting Room and are a real gem to add to the Christmas table or holiday festivities and the ideal gift for that someone who has everything.

The wines currently retail at R225, but wine club members pay R180. Buy now
