Experience the Top of the Hill Pinotage vineyard, up-close and personal.

20 September 2019  -  De Waal

We are happy to announce that we will be kicking off our popular, monthly Top of the Hill Vineyard Walks on Pinotage Day, Saturday 12 October.

Join owner Pieter de Waal on his journey through the De Waal vineyards to the highest point on the farm, where the old wild fig tree, next to the Top of the Hill Pinotage vineyard, awaits.

Way back in 1950, Pieter’s father Danie and his brother, “Coffee” de Waal, planted these Pinotage bush vines when the Pinotage grape varietal was still in its “baby shoes”.  At the age of 69 years, this single vineyard is known as the oldest Pinotage vineyard in the country, and in fact, the world!

The Top of the Hill Walk includes:

A tasting of the impressive Top of the Hill Pinotage 2015 in the vineyards.
A tasting of four other wines on the private terrace after the walk.
A lovely cheese luncheon,a great selection of local cheeses, preserves and South African delicacies.
A glass of wine of your choice, of the lifestyle range, Young Vines, to accompany your cheese lunch.
Cost:  R295.00 per person
