What's bubbling this summer at Villiera

4 November 2019  -  Villiera

Our planet is suffering both climatically and politically. Concerned humans are certainly going to protest against the current direction our leaders are taking.

At Villiera, we took a decision years ago to do as much as we can to reverse the effects of climate change.  Politically we have limited influence but we do pay attention to social sustainability.

We offer employment to 166 members of staff, which helps to sustain them and their families. Children of our staff are taken care of in our Early Childhood Development Centre and After School Club.  These facilities are operated under the supervision of The Pebbles Project, an NPO with their base at Villiera Wines (they are currently celebrating 15 years of #changinglives).

Support for sustainable wine companies is growing but the wines are still expected to over deliver.

It is reassuring that our wines and bubblies continue to impress and excel on an international and national level.

In Tim Atkin’s 2019 SA Special Report we achieved four Medals of Excellence, three of which were for our Cap Classique wines. The Villiera Monro BrutVilliera Tradition Brut NV and Villiera Brut Natural MCC 2015 were awarded 90+ ratings as did the Villiera Traditional Barrel Fermented Chenin Blanc.  The fact that Tradition Brut NV and Monro Brut and our Barrel Fermented Chenin Blanc have been rated 90+ in Tim Atkin’s SA Special Report for the last three years, showcases the steadfast quality of our wines.

From a local perspective our performance at the Sommeliers Selection Awards highlights the appeal for Villiera wines on wine lists.  Furthermore, Villiera Tradition Brut NV was noted as a stand out wine. Also included in the Sommeliers Selection list were our Villiera Tradition Brut Rosé and Villiera Sauvignon Blanc 2019

At the Michelangelo Wine Awards, which is becoming one of the leading local competitions, we were awarded Double Gold for our 2019 Sauvignon Blanc and Tradition Brut NV.  We also received Gold for our 2019 Jasmine and our Tradition Rose.
Villiera Monro Brut 2013 was awarded Gold at the recent Veritas Awards, with Silver medals for Villiera Brut Natural MCC 2015 and the Villiera Monro Merlot 2017.

Celebrate with the Villiera Clan as we welcome summer with some Bubbles & Bling at our 4th annual Fizzytherapy Festival.  This celebration is taking place at Villiera Wines on Sunday, 24 November between 11am and 3pm.

Enjoy a complimentary glass of Starlight upon arrival and set off to the lawn to sample more of our award-winning bubbly, pairing so perfectly with the freshest oysters from The Mussel Monger and Oyster Bar. Our entire white, red and Domaine Grier (French) wine range will also be available for tasting. You will be spoilt for choice when it comes to gourmet street food, so follow us on Facebook for our Vendor reveal. A craft beer station by Berg River Brewery (owned by Glen Grier) will sell beer to those with a big thirst.

Ice cold bubbly and the complete Villiera and Domaine Grier wine range will be for sale at a special festival price all day long!  So, grab your favourite bottle or two, some lunch and find a shady spot to relax and listen to the sound of Bottomless Coffee Band! They’ll ‘’encourage good times, evoke emotions and spark deeds of love, hope and change’’

For those who wish to don their bling and add vibrancy to our theme, Bubbles and Bling, do so and stand a chance to win amazing prizes

Over and above this you can look forward to express Game Drives, a Sabrage performed by Cellar Master, Jeff Grier, lucky draws and special offers for ‘’take home sales’’, so be sure to take advantage of this opportunity to stock up for the festive season!
