Raise a toast to Bullicante, Dalla Cia’s new bubbly

Well known for combining age-old Italian tradition with a passion for innovation, Dalla Cia is delighted to present an exciting new addition to their wine range – a Brut sparkling Pinot Grigio named Bullicante.

It’s hard to imagine a better name for this sparkling wine the Dalla Cias envisaged three years ago and now captured in a flint Champagne bottle with a striking wraparound label exhibiting all the colours of their wine labels.

“The name Bullicante derives from a technique used by the Murano Art Glass blowers in Venice, where layers of air bubbles are blown into thick glass and pulled with the blowpipe to form elongated depressions” explains George Dalla Cia. “In a similar way we have added bubbles to our wine range using a very northern Italian cultivar, Pinot Grigio, not often used as a bubbly”.

The Pinot Grigio grapes are grown within 15km of the ocean and handpicked at optimal ripeness in the early hours of the morning. Slow cool fermentation follows twelve hours of skin contact and after two months on the lees, the wine is bottled.

“On opening, our Bullicante Brut presents a gentle bouquet of citrus, orange blossom and minerality,” says George. “It’s crisp on the palate with a well-balanced mouthfeel and low acidity. The finish is gentle and with a lingering aftertaste of cream, marzipan and white pear.”

Joining the Dalla Cia existing range of six classically styled wines as well as their artisanal Grappa, Bullicante has a recommended retail price of R160 per bottle including VAT.
