With the 2021 harvest in full swing, the winemaking team at Kleine Zalze wine estate received very welcome news and recognition for their painstaking efforts from MUNDUS VINI – one of the foremost wine competitions in Germany with global recognition. The estate’s excellent performance at the 28th Grand International Wine Award MUNDUS VINI, annual Spring Tasting, included six gold medals.

These comprised of the Vineyard Selection Chardonnay 2020, the Vineyard Selection Chenin Blanc 2020, the Vineyard Selection Cabernet Sauvignon 2018, the Family Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2017, the Family Reserve Shiraz 2017 and the Vintage MCC Brut 2015.

To top it all, MUNDUS VINI awarded the premier award of Best Producer – South Africa to Kleine Zalze again, for the second year in a row. The Best of Show South Africa Red also went to Kleine Zalze for Family Reserve Shiraz 2017.

Based in Germany, Mundus Vini sees approximately 11 000 wines submitted every year from across the globe for assessment by its international panel, which comprises oenologists, sommeliers, specialty retailers, journalists and scientists. Usually the results are revealed ahead of ProWein, the world’s leading trade fair for wines and spirits that usually takes place in Düsseldorf.
