Platinum for Quoin Rock Black Series MCC 2014

The highly anticipated Decanter World Wine Awards were met with great excitement, especially for Quoin Rock Wine Estate which saw its Black Series MCC 2014 receiving the prestigious Platinum Award.

Considered as the world’s largest wine competition this year’s was the biggest to date, with 18 094 wines tasted from 56 countries. Over 15 consecutive days in June, almost 170 expert wine judges, including 44 Masters of Wine and 11 Master Sommeliers, awarded 50 Best in Show, 179 Platinum, 635 Gold, 5 607 Silver and 8 332 Bronze medals. Quoin Rock Wine Estate was only one of nine South African producers to receive 97 points out of a possible 100, thereby earning them the coveted Platinum medal.

Winemaker, Schalk Opperman describes this award-winner as showing prominent notes of green apple, honey-oats, biscuit and lime aromas, which are supported by interesting mineral characters. The delicate mousse and tiny, persistent bubbles complement the crisp, refreshing acidity and creamy palate of this elegant Brut style MCC. Available directly from the cellar at R450 per bottle.
