Description

Creating excellence in wine has not been a singular pursuit. Our belief is that every aspect must work in harmony: agriculture with nature, people with animals, sustainability with excellence. The old vines are planted to a height of 550m above sea level and with slopes as steep as 45 degrees, creating wines that have exceptional expression and character. Small pockets of low yielding, hand-tended Chardonnay vineyards offer up perfect fruit on the cooler elevated slopes. On the slightly lower foothills of the Botmaskop mountains the Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards are tended to. The perfect conditions to grow grapes with a balance of rich and mineral characters.

Tasting Room Details & Offerings

Bartinney is a boutique wine cellar in the Banhoek Valley, with a sister wine bar in the heart of Stellenbosch town. Nestled in the striking Banhoek valley, the lovingly renovated, double-aspect space is draped with native fynbos plants from the farm nursery, and a stunning chandelier crafted from old vines. Relax on one of the three terraces, which enjoys unrivalled panoramic views over the valley and Simonsberg mountain. To accompany the wine we have a selection of locally sourced snacks, including a range of cheese and charcuterie platters accompanied by classic favourites such as olives and biltong. Alongside our award winning wines we also offer our sister gin brand: The Tempest Gin, infused with native fynbos from the farm. Join us for a tasting of our 3 gins or indulge in one of our delicious Tempest Gin cocktails.

Our vision is to create excellent wines and reawaken the charm of the historic land whilst paying particular attention to our harmonious relationship with the environment of the Banhoek Valley. We want every guest to leave Bartinney and ambassador of excellent wine and a respect for sustainability.
