Rainbow’s End Wine Estate

Rainbow’s End Wine Estate Claimed

Description

Rainbow’s End is a family owned boutique red wine farm. The first vineyards were planted in 2000/2001 with the maiden vintage Shiraz produced in 2002 of 18 month old vines.
Having leant how to make wine in the cellars of Olivier Laporte, of Chataeu Criox Beausejour, at Montagne St. Emillon, France, Anton has an unquenchable desire to produce the highest quality wines this pristine terroir can offer.

As for the wine making we work with what the season gives us as opposed to following the same techniques annually. We also strive to combine old and new world styles of winemaking to produce full bodied wines with aging potential of 8-10 years but is already very accessible 2 years post harvest.
We select bunches and hand-pick at dawn, the sorting takes place by hand and the plunging is done in open fermenters. We use a small basket press for light pressing. The wines are aged in small French oak barrels for 12 months.

Tasting Room Details & Offerings

With floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over the spectacular Banghoek Valley. Our tasting room is super-cool in summer thanks to the air-con and super cozy in winter with a crackling fire burning daily. Focusing on red wines, it’s a family-run estate that offers personal attention. Tastings, hosted by Fennel Adams, are available from Tuesday to Saturday, and cost R100 per person for 5 wines (the two premium wines are R30 extra each), fees waivered upon purchase. You can also try all the wines by the glass (R30 – R120) and nibble on build-your-own platters.
