Tasting Room Details & Offerings
Vergenoegd Löw’s range of wines can be tasted on the estate in historical venues or under starlit skies. Experts will introduce guests to the range of estate-grown wines that include red blends, MCC as well as white and red single cultivar wines.
Another novelty is the indigenous tasting presented by our tasting room ambassadors in the Homestead where indigenous food like bokkom, umazi and local delicacies are served with a wine that compliments, thus delivering a new experience for all the senses.
Geuwels, an Afrikaans word for ‘gables’, is situated on one of South Africa’s oldest working farms, Vergenoegd Löw, where the graceful Cape Dutch Homestead has undergone extensive restoration to reinstate its significant historical value.
Drawing inspiration from South African produce and ingredients, Head Chef Drikus invites you and the whole family to join for breakfast or lunch on the werf, which can be enjoyed in one of multiple indoor or outdoor dining spaces. Breakfast choices include dishes such as seasonal poached duck eggs and roosterkoek. Lunch features South African small plate-choices to share (or not!).
Opening Hours: Monday to Sunday from 8am – 3:30pm
Clara’s Barn by Bertus Basson
Clara’s Barn is a beautifully appointed restaurant in the oldest barn in the Western Cape at Vergenoegd Löw, a working wine farm. Our inspiration for Clara’s Barn is a modern South African Farm kitchen. We serve a 5 course menu. The kitchen is headed up by Drikus Brink. Clara’s Barn has a function room that can seat up to 80 guests.
On the ever-changing menu you will find indigenous local produce, specially selected for quality, seasonal and optimal ripeness. The ambience is relaxed, informally elegant in a tastefully restored barn with excellent service and superb wine and cocktail selection.
