Le Grand Domaine Enoteca Celebrates First Anniversary

Le Grand Domaine Enoteca Celebrates First Anniversary

In a competitive ‘wine bar’ environment, Le Grand Domaine Enoteca in Stellenbosch has fast become one of the places ‘to be seen’, and this was reaffirmed when the wine library recently celebrated its first anniversary since opening its doors in 2022.

A joint venture between Le Grand Domaine and Stellenview Premium Wines, which has become their brand home, the upmarket venue is an opulent showcase for both brands’ handcrafted, premium quality wines full of character and flavour.

Friends of co-owners Bernard Fontanaz and Reino Kruger were invited to the guests only celebration event on 28 February, together with a handful of media. The night was not set aside for tasting wines from their relevant portfolios, but instead they were treated to a special tasting of Argentinian and Swiss wines from Bernard’s private vineyards. Once in a lifetime opportunity for most, which was favourably received. During the evening guests were also served delicious canapes, perfectly paired to enhance the flavours of these stellar wines.

Unfortunately this wine showcase was a once off, but during regular trading hours customers still have the opportunity to taste a range of superb wines. Currently the ranges on offer include Grand Domaine De Stellenbosch & The Pledge, as well as the internationally awarded Stellenview Premium Wines and its subsidiary labels – Kruger Family Reserve , Kenzo Faure Kruger Reserve , Stellenview Reserve,  Great Five Reserve and Cape Five Reserve wines. All wines are offered by tasting portion, glass, and bottle.

‘Opening a wine bar during these challenging times has been a learning process for both Bernard and myself, but the past year we’ve seen phenomenal growth in regular customers as well as new visitors, exposing them to a range of wines they wouldn’t have been able to taste before,’ says Stellenview Premium Wines founder, Reino Kruger.

In addition to the tasting visitors can choose to order off the bistro styled menu, which offers classic dishes with a twist.

Le Grand Domaine Enoteca is open Tuesdays to Sundays, and you’ll find them at Shop 1 Oude Bank, 7 Church Street, Stellenbosch. For more information contact them on 021 300 3279, email enoteca@granddomaine.co.za  or visit www.legranddomaine.co.za.
