Usana – more than wine…
On these cold and rainy days it is not always possible to throw a steak on the braai. Here is one of our favourite dishes to prepare at home;
Asian Crispy Beef & Noodles
500 g Usana Grass fed steak thinly sliced- We usualy use Denver, Hanger or Skirt steak to make this dish
1 Usana pasture raised egg
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 cups flour seasoned with salt
oil for frying
For the sauce
1 onion finely chopped
3 garlic cloves crushed
1/3 cup soy sauce
3-4 tbsp honey to taste
1 tsp chili
1 tsp rice vinegar
1 tbsp Hoisin sauce / Oyster sauce
½ cup water
500 g noodles to serve
Slice steak into strips.
Marinade steak in soy and egg mixture.
Make the sauce by frying onion and garlic in a pan.
Then add soy sauce, honey, oyster sauce, ginger, chilli, vinegar and water. Allow to simmer and reduce by half. This gives beautiful concentration to the sauce.
Roll steak through seasoned flour then deep fry until nice and crispy.
Add crispy beef to sauce.
Make sure all the beef is coated in the sauce.
Serve with noodles and something fresh like avo, coleslaw or mielies.
